Tribute to Women Nomination: Step 1

Every May, we sponsor a premier awards luncheon, Tribute to Women, to honor a select group of women who live or work within our service area of the Merrimack Valley, Essex County or Southern NH. Honorees are women of achievement in both their professions and communities. The luncheon recognizes and honors their contributions and accomplishments, while raising crucial funds for more than 21 of our programs in Lawrence, Haverhill, Lynn and Southern NH.

Before submitting a Nomination, ensure your candidate meets the following requirements:

Nominee must…

  • Demonstrate superior contributions and/or advancement in her profession;
  • Possess outstanding community commitment;
  • Live or work in the YWCA service area of either the Merrimack Valley, Essex County or Southern NH;
  • Be available to attend the awards ceremony on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Andover Country Club, Andover, MA between 11:15am and 2pm.

Application Deadlines
All Step 1: Nominee Confirmations must be received on or before Wednesday, March 19, 2014.  This will give you enough time to complete Step 2: Nominee Profile Information before the deadline of Friday, March 28, 2014.

Application Process:
There are two steps to making a Nomination.  Step 1 is to Confirm Your Nominee by completing the form on the right and clicking ‘Submit’.  Again, the deadline for Step 1 is on or before, Wednesday, March 19th.

Your request will then be submitted to a representative who will share it with the Committee, a cross-section of business and community leaders, who will verify the candidate meets the criteria, and that there are no conflicts in her nomination.  The representative will contact you via email within 48 hours.   The YWCA reserves the right to make final selections, and all decisions are final.

If eligible, you will be emailed a link to complete Step 2, which is the Nominee Profile Information.

Note:  The person completing Steps 1 and 2 is considered the Nominator.

Role of the Nominator
As the Nominator, you should know the candidate well enough to tell us about her in detail, be available to attend the awards luncheon with her, and be willing to participate in conveying her nomination via email to colleagues, friends and family as appropriate.

While there is no cost to being a Nominator or Nominee, Nominators pay for their luncheon reservation, which is $50, while the YWCA pays for the Honoree’s luncheon.

To Share or Not to Share
The question asked by most Nominators is if you should tell your candidate that you’re nominating them for Tribute to Women.  We’d like to suggest that it’s usually best to complete Step 1 and hear back about your candidate prior to telling her.  We will email you the link to complete Step 2 only if your candidate is accepted.  Hope this helps!
